Novelist
David Rochefort is a novelist and an editorial manager at the CNRS. A philosophy graduate, he has published five novels with Gallimard: La Paresse et l’oubli (2010, shortlisted for the Prix Renaudot), Le Point de Schelling (2017), Nous qui restons vivants (2019), Ce pays secret (2023), and Le prix fort (2023, finalist for the Grand Prix Sport et Littérature). Praised by Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération, and RFI, he is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary French literature.

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried this: put two phones side by side, each running an AI app in voice mode. The first will ask something like, “Hi, how are you, how can I help you today?” The second will answer, in the same cheerful, reassuring voice: “Great, I’m doing well! Do you need any help?”
